Jay Z speaks to Minnesota Governor about justice

Governor Tim Walz heard from Hip-Hop’s first billionaire, Jay Z, who said out his own mouth that “justice needs to be served” for George Floyd’s death.

The two spoke by phone on Saturday night about the black man whose encounter with police was caught on camera. His death has sparked racial unrest and protests around the country and the world. Governor Walz said he appreciated Jay Z being candid, and said he spoke to him as a concerned father, not a superstar. During the conversation, he reportedly said “I am a human, a father and a black man in pain’.

The two apparently also discussed how the world is watching how Minnesota handles this, and how that could have an impact across the country.

Jay Z also posted on social media about the conversation in an Instagram post on the RocNation account. It said:

“After our earnest conversation, thank you to Governor Walz for doing what’s right and calling in Attorney General Keith Ellison to take over the George Floyd case. Earlier today, Governor Walz mentioned having a human conversation with me. A dad and a black man in pain. Yes, I am human, a father and a black man in pain and I am not the only one. Now I, along with an entire country in pain, call upon AG Ellison to do the right thing and prosecute all those responsible for the murder of George Floyd to the fullest extent of the law.”

Jay Z’s wife and icon Beyonce also posted a video about her distress over the situation.
